    bf July till the 10th of August, in the year 1788, on leaving the place, ordered a well to be sunk for the domestic uses of Lord Fan* conberg*s house, where he resided during hi^ Visit at Cheltenham; and instead of fresh water, a saline one was found, of greatet sstrength than that of the original spa. Thi^ well, therefore, denominated the King s well, yielded such abundance of water for a serie^ of years, that servants drank it, salts were made from it, and horses were supplied with pailfulls of it, every morning. But this water having gradually failed for a number of years, Ihe well produced so little at last, that it wasJ entirely shut up six years ago.
