About this work

Description

The second in a two-part series in which author Terry Pratchett confronts his diagnosis of a rare form of Alzheimer's disease, Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), over the course of a year. In this part Pratchett flies to the US to learn about some extraordinary new research that is taking place. Edward Tobinick has been using a new medication on patients - we see this being demonstrated. Whilst in the States Pratchett visits a luxury home for Alzheimer's sufferers. As PCA is a rare form of Alzheimer's it is hard to have a sense of what the future holds. Pratchett meets Charles Duffy in New York who has specialised in PCA research for 10 years and discovers that his PCA will undoubtedly turn into full-blown Alzheimer's at some stage. Finally Pratchett has a further scan in order to see what the disease has done to his brain so far.
