About this work

Description

A traffic safety poster from the late 1950s. Top row, three small pictures showing the correct way to observe traffic regulations. This is followed by three cartoon-style stories (each with 4 or 5 pictures) of tales illustrating the dangers and unfortunate results of not observing the rules: first, a man, his wife and their two children all try to travel on one bicycle, but the father, who is driving, is distracted by a pedestrian and by rain, leading to a collision in which they are all badly wounded; second, two men driving a horse and cart negligently allow the horse to be frightened by a car, leading to overturning of the cart; third, a man falls asleep on his horse-drawn cart which is then hit by a train on a level crossing
