Offprints, reprints and photocopies of international journal literature relating to neurological and osteopathic diagnostics on limb defects, and the surgical and prosthetic solutions proposed. Mostly in reverse chronological order. Some with personal messages from the author(s) to Smithells and to Alan Summerside of the Thalidomide Trust.

Includes a reprint of Smithells' 1962 article on "The Liverpool Congenital Abnormalities Registry"with a sheet bearing signatures from colleagues present at the Registry's 25th anniversary celebration in July 1985.

The material bears numbered labels running 1060-1085. A subsequent inventory by the Thalidomide Trust used a different system, JL001-JL026.
