About this work
Description
"A minor operation consequent on the surgical treatment. Certain abstract sensations were remembered during the operation. My nurse holding my hand--the surgeon looming up like a sapient white ghost--my own set smile, detached and hovering in front of my eyes--the heat and pressure--vague rhythmic shapes--sharp whispers like birds chirruping--muffled activity--and little drops of warm brandy"--Hill, op. cit.
