Segment 1 Text asks parents 'Have you had your child immunized against diphtheria?' over scenes of a children's ward in a hospital. One boy is focused on, and the narrator says that he has diphtheria and is not expected to live. Voiceovers are heard of the boy's mother saying she does not want him immunised, and of his friends asking why he is not being 'done'. He says, 'Mum won't let me!' A doctor examines the boy and says that he need not have died if only he had been immunised. A map of Scotland is shown. Two thirds of children were immunised and only one of these children died. Of the third that was not immunised, over 400 died. Text saying 'Stop this needless death' is shown over images of scientists preparing the vaccine. A girl smiles as she is immunised, and the narrator says that immunisation does not hurt, it does not make the child ill, and it is free. Text reads, 'Your council offices will tell you how, do it now!' Time start: 00:00:00:00 Time end: 00:01:29:13 Length: 00:01:29:13
