Cecilia Renaud having presented herself before Robespierre, he asked her what she wanted. She replied I am come to see how a tyrant is formed: which answer striking him with fear, & suspecting a plot was laid against his life, he not only condemned her to death, but also all who were related to her, to the number of 60 not even exempting her aged grand-father ...
