Description

Photograph of two wooden statues. One is of St Florian (250-c.304) patron saint of chimney sweeps, soap makers and firefighters and the other is of Saint Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) known as the Reformer of the Carmelite Order. The statue of St Florian was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1931 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R2416/1937). It isnot held by Wellcome Collection. The statue of St Teresa was purchased at auction in 1931 by the Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accessioned number R605/1938). In the accession register it is recorded as being a statue of St Catherine of Sienna. The statue was removed from the Museum's collection in 1965.
