About this work
Description
This programme looks at the real cost of reducing NHS waiting lists. New Labour planned to cut surgical waiting lists from 2 years to 6 months by fast-tracking surgical care. By the end of 2005 only 12 people had to wait longer than 6 months for their operations, but in order to do this foreign surgeons working in private hospitals have been utilised - unfortunately their work is frequently of an unacceptable standard. Here, we hear from medical professionals and victims of incompetent surgery.
