About this work

Description

Two wooden statues, one of an unknown saint acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4849/1937). The other of St Nicholas of Bari (270-343) Bishop of Myra and three babies in a tub. Patron of children and invoked against conjugal sterility and rheumatism. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4740/1937). Neither is held by Wellcome Collection.
