About this work

Description

"The last few decades have witnessed a remarkable proliferation of medical literature. This has been particularly true in the field of neuro-ophthalmology. Virtually every current issue of ophthalmology and neurology journals contains articles on the visual or ocular motor systems. The abundance of material may be a boon, but in practice it has made much of the literature an inaccessible resource. It is difficult now for any individual to identify, let alone obtain, read, understand, evaluate and assimilate, all of the current journal articles in neuro-ophthalmology. For many years the Archives of Ophthalmology published annual reviews that informed readers about current neuro-ophthalmic papers. However, these reviews were discontinued after 1974, in part because the enormous volume of material made it difficult for a single author to produce a complete and critical, yet succinct review. We are resurrecting the periodic review of neuro-opthalmology in the form of a series of books of which this is the first."--From Introduction (page ix).
