About this work
Description
Jo Milne became famous worldwide in 2014 when a video of her hearing for the first time received over 10 million hits on Youtube. Now she is going blind, and this documentary follows Jo two years later as she tries to accomplish her childhood dream before she loses her sight. As a young girl, Jo and her best friend Amina Khan had made a pledge that they would one day help the poor children of Bangladesh. Jo travels to Bangladesh, where 5% of children are profoundly deaf. She meets the Begum family, who have three children who have been deaf since birth. With the help of Hearing Fund UK (founded by 1970s pop band The Osmonds), the Starkey Hearing Foundation, and Rotary Club Dhaka North West, she sets up a clinic in Dhaka and sets out to provide 500 children with hearing aids. Despite the difficulties, they are able to give almost every child they meet the gift of hearing. Jo then travels outside of Dhaka to meet Morium, a 16 year old girl who is partially deaf and blind but has had her life changed by hearing aids. Jo ends the emotional experience by promising she will continue to do more for the people of Bangladesh.
