Exhibited in "Being Human" at Wellcome Collection, London
Exhibition caption, Being Human, Wellcome Collection: "Maisie Broadhead and Jack Cole created this portrait of Maisie's twin sister Zoe in May 2020 during the UK's first Covid lockdown. Zoe, an intensive care nurse in a London hospital, was caring for people very ill with Covid. She wears an adapted builder's face shield because it was difficult to get personal protective equipment (PPE) at thsi time. Witness invites us to acknowledge the traumas experienced during the pandemic, and ask: who provides care for our carers?"
Exhibited in "In Plain Sight" at Wellcome Collection, London, 20 October 2022 - 12 February 2023.
Exhibition caption, In Plain Sight, Wellcome Collection: "In May 2020, during the UK’s first covid-19 lockdown, artist Maisie Broadhead collaborated with photographer Jack Cole to create two portraits of her sister, Zöe, an intensive care nurse. Zoe was in the midst of working long shifts in the crowded critical care ward of a large London hospital, caring for people very ill with covid-19. In this portrait, she wears an adapted builder’s face shield to protect her eyes from airborne particles and droplets at a time when accessing personal protective equipment was difficult."
