Mr. Edwd Bright late of Maldon in Essex. He was an eminent shop keeper of that town, & suppos'd to have been the largest man in Europe. He weighed 5fe:1q:21tt. Horsemans weight. He died Novbr.10th: 1750. And left a widow big with the sixth child his height was above 5 foot nine inches, & his body was of astonishing bulk, his legs was biger than a midling man's body, & though so great a weight & bulk surprisingly active. N.B. A wager was held that seven midling men at the age of 21 could not be button'd within his waistcoat, which with much ease was done without breaking a stitch or straining a button. This & the metzotint one, are only from an original painting, which was done six weeks before he died, all other prints of him are feticious, without authority. Bears number bottom right "157".
