Description

Wooden statue of St Fiacre of Breuil (c.600-670) Irish saint who went to Gaul and founded an abbey at Breuil. Patron saint of gardeners and invoked against haemorrhoids, colic, cancer, fistula, headaches and veneral disease. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4731/1937).
