Description
This documentary, which includes contributions from many of the key figures at the start of the Human Genome project looks in detail at how the project was initiated and set in motion. It also explains in layman's terms how faulty genes leading to diseases such as sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis and Huntington's diseae have been mapped onto specific chromosomes. However the so-called Book of Man came up against numerous obstacles, from the ethical to the financial. This highly informative programme tells the full story, providing an excellent introduction to the study of genetics and DNA.
