Fangyi chuyan (A Modest Proposal for Epidemic Prevention) is a treatise on epidemiology. It contains sections on the clinical treatment and control of epidemic diseases, and prevention and prophylaxis.

The text states: The locations for guasha treatment on the front of the body include the front of the throat, the tendons at the side of the neck, the quche (Carpenter's Square) acu-moxa point and the middle of renmai (the Director Vessel, often translated as Conception Vessel). One must first prepare a smooth copper coin, lubricated with sesame oil, salt water or vinegar. Beginning at the front of the throat, one scrapes from the Adam's Apple to the supraclavicular fossa (quepen, Broken Basin). One then treats the area of the tendons at the side of the neck, working downwards along the tendon from below the ear. After this one scrapes downwards from the danzhong (Chest Centre) point via the navel to the edge of the pubic hair. Finally one scrapes the quchi (Pool at the Crook) points on both arms. One continues until the skin locally appears purple or purplish black.
