Description

A manuscript paper in which the anonymous writer having read Dr. Hancock's Paper on Sarsaparilla, comments on it and sets out to examine the most advantageous manner of administering the plant, Rio Negro Sarsaparillo for medical purposes.

The writer who is clearly an experienced man of medicine has read the paper by Dr. John Hancock (d.c.1840) titled "The Properties and Preparation of the Rio Negro sarsaparilla, and of the augustura bark, practically examined" 1829, and sets out a detailed examination of the methods of administering the medicine. (A copy of this paper is held by the Wellcome Library.)
