C19 Chinese ink drawing: Location of various boils

Ink and brush drawing from a handwritten copy of the anonymous text Dingchuang yaojue (Essential Art of Boils), executed in 1874 (13th year of the Tongzhi reign period of the Qing dynasty). Meishao ding (boil at the tip of the eyebrow) occurs at the outer end of both eyebrows. It is treated with needling and opening (tiaoci) at the longshe (Dragon's Tongue) and the first section of the spinal vertebrae. Jianxia ding (boil below the shoulder) occurs on the outer aspect of the shoulders. It is treated with needling and opening at the jianjing (Shoulder Well) and longshe locations. Chunjiao ding (boil at the corner of the lip) occurs at the corners of the mouth. It is treated with needling and opening at ermen (Ear Portal). Yanhou ding (boil in the throat) occurs in the laryngopharynx. It is treated with needling and opening at jianjing, the first section of the spinal vertebrae, the tip of the thumb, etc.
