About this work

Description

Minature, possibly 15th century, of a composite image of a physician (represented by hat, robes, book, and chair), an apothecary (represented by the ointment box in the left hand) and a surgeon (represented by the surgical instrument under the belt). It is possibly from a manuscript of Cessolis, Ludo scacchorum; and previously incorrectly said to be from a Vatican codex (reference Vat.lat.1066)
