    The only case of Typhoid Fever was in the person of one of the Nurses, who for a long time was very seriously ill, and grave fears were enter¬ tained about her. At length, after a tedious illness of about four months, she is convalescent. The cost of Kepairs has been £1124. 9s. lid., and of “ Additions and Improvements,”£252. 7s. 7d.,for the year ending 31st March, 1892 ; of this latter sum <£222. 16s. 3d. has been spent in providing an Organ for the Chapel, and in laying down a main and supplying gas fittings for that edifice. Lodging-money has been earned for the same period from the Boroughs of Reading and Newbury to the amount of £255. 14s .Od. This with the amount of the profit on out-county, private, and criminal patients, viz. : £271. 9s. 6d., has been applied in aid of the Repairs Fund. The principal Repairs, Renewals, and Improve¬ ments carried out during the year have been :— Painting outside woodwork of river front of Male Wards 2 and 3, Female Wards 2 and 3, Dining Hall and Recreation Hall. Painting, Whitewashing, Colouring, Varnish¬ ing, &c., in the Committee Room, large Kitchen, Male Hospital, and Second Assis¬ tant Medical Officer’s Quarters. Plastering walls of Female Hospital. Putting up new staircase to Second Assistant Medical Officer’s Rooms.
