Refr: G&M 3223 Cont: Includes a portrait of George Bodington Prov: With a ms letter from Ellen A. Bodington (daughter of George) dated May 11th 1910 pasted on to end paper Note: Bodington was the first to advocate the sanatorium treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis, recommending "cold dry air for healing and closing cavities and ulcers of the lungs". This work was much criticised by the profession at the time and Bodington was discouraged from developing his ideas any further. The first sanatorium run on lines similar to those suggested by Bodington was established by H. Brehmer at Gorbersdorf in 1859
