The painter's eye.

The artist Humphrey Ocean and scientist filmmaker John Tchalenko explore how a painter transforms his vision of the external world into a picture on a canvas. It charts the progress of the project using the biomedical tools of the eyetracker and a brain scanner. A biomedical eye-tracker is attached to Humphrey and this records exactly how many times his eye fixates on a particular area as well as where his eye is moving. To map the brain process the Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technique (FMRI) is used. The final experiment involves a movement sensor being attached to the pencil in Humphrey's hand to reveal how many times he fixated the model and paused his hand.
