About this work
Description
"David Beales was born in 1954, in Wood Green, North London. He attended Croydon School of Art in 1975 but the following year was admitted to Farnborough hospital. It was the beginning of the years he spent on the psychiatric wards, where he met, befriended and spent time with Terry Burns, David Bowie's step brother. David Beales has shown artwork since 2002, in exhibitions with other patients and in solo exhibitions at the Institute of Psychiatry, at Hall Place, and at the Bethlem Gallery. But this is Terry's story, the man who David Bowie said gave him the best serviceable education he could wish for. David Bowie also said that he and Terry could have led each other's lives."--Provided by publisher.
