About this work

Description

Rupert Sheldrake (University of Cambridge) talks about his life and work and his commitment to the theory of morphic resonance, developed from the ideas of the biologist C.H. Waddington. Sheldrake's views, like Waddington's, attracted the scorn and fury of many emminent scientists. Serene in the face of vitriolic criticism, he believes he can prove his theories through chemistry. Among those appearing in the programme are Dr. John Maddox (Editor-in-Chief, "Nature")who denounced Sheldrake's book, "A New Science of Life"; Prof. Steven Rose (Open University), who dismisses Sheldrake's ideas as nonsense; Dr. Nicholas Humphrey (University of Cambridge) who knows people who won't stay in the same room as Sheldrake; and Prof. Patrick Bateson (University of Cambridge) who concedes, "Maybe he's got something".
