Description
Documentary film clips from many sources provide a worldwide survey of achievements in medical science from the mid-1940s. The main topics are the discovery and uses of penicillin, mass x- rays for TB, the inauguration of the NHS, Salk polio vaccine, the eradication of smallpox and success in population control in some parts of India. Also looks at some diseases which still threaten the Third World, especially cholera and schistosomiasis, and at the effects of AIDS throughout the world.
