Description

Poster (printed in black with a graded background going from red at the top and bottom to yellow in the middle), advertising the appearance of Adonis, the African midgit [sic] in some sort of variety show in about 1885 at the Royal Aquarium (a large exhibition hall and theatre built in 1876 and demolished in 1902 on the site of the current Central Hall opposite Westminster Abbey, London). The poster was printed by George Webb Litho at 55 Waterloo Road, London and shows Adonis in evening dress standing next to an ink well with quills in it.
