    Provisional Jenkins InvpTovemxents in 3Iediccited Belts ov Bands, combination of two or more of these articles, and I “ fix ” the said preparation of turpentine by treating it with a preparation of borax. I cover the leather so prepared with scarlet or red cloth of fine quality, the cloth being formed so s to make the belts or bands of a size suitable for applying to the body of the person using such belts or bands, and I attach the leather to the cloth (by 5 sewing) with the prepared side of the leather in contact with the cloth. SPECIFICATION in pursuance of the conditions of the Letters Patent, filed by the said William Jenkins in the Great Seal Patent Office on the 9 th October 1861. TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, I, William 10 Jenkins, of Montpelier Street, Brompton, in the County of Middlesex, Gentleman, send greeting. WHEREAS Her most Excellent Majesty Queen Victoria, by Her Letters Patent, bearing date the Seventeenth day of April, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, in the twenty-fourth year of Her 15 reign, did, for Herself, Her heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, the said William Jenkins, Her special licence that I, the said William Jenkins, my executors, administrators, and assigns, or such others as I, the said William Jenkins, my executors, administrators, and assigns, should at any time agree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times 20 thereafter during the term therein expressed, should and lawfully might make, use, exercise, and vend, within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for “ Improvements in Medicated Belts or Bands for the Alleviation of Pain in or Prevention of Cholera, and for the Prevention or Cure of Pulmonary 25 or other Complaints,” upon the condition (amongst others) that I, the said William Jenkins, my executors or administrators, by an instrument in writing under my, or their, or one of their hands and seals, should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and cause the same to be filed in the Great 30 Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent. NOW KNOW YE, that I, the said William Jenkins, do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the 35 following statement thereof, that is to say:—
