What you'll do
In this event, listen in to the recording of a radio programme about how the limits of what define us as human will change through the use of new technologies.
Claudia Hammond will present the programme and will interview three speakers. Then we’ll open up to the audience. You can participate or just listen in.
The event will be recorded and edited into a programme which will be broadcast on the BBC World Service in April.
About your speakers
We have three confirmed speakers:
Frank Swain is a journalist who writes for 'New Scientist'. He will talk about how we can extend the possibilities of being human by developing new senses.
Tamar Makin uses approaches from neuroscience, psychology and rehabilitation to better understand how you can train the brain to accept new prosthetics.
Ghislaine Boddington is an artist-curator, researcher and director who specialises in body responsive technologies and immersion experiences.
Where we’ll be
In the Forum, which can seat up to 70 people, on Level 1.
Follow the signs through the Medicine Now gallery. No need to print out a ticket – just show up. You must turn up 10 minutes before to guarantee yourself a seat. We won’t be able to admit any latecomers.
